Ground-coupled GPR (Ground Probing Radar) units are being used to locate potential pavement construction or rehabilitation problems deep underground without damage to the pavement.  A report from the Texas Transportation Institute (TTI).

SBR Systems, Inc. is a supplier of equipment and materials for the maintenance and protection of pavements. The interval between repaving can be extended by implementing a regular program of sealing the cracks and joints in pavements, thus keeping out water and other non-compressibles that can prematurely destroy pavements.

UK's new standard for Pavement Management Systems (UKPMS), the national standard for Pavement Management systems for principal and local roads in the UK. This site provides information about the project and advice on preparing for the implementation of UKPMS. UKPMS is currently being adopted by at least 14 commercial system suppliers, with full introduction due for 1998 onwards.

PASCO USA, Inc. are developers of photographic equipment for pavement surface distress surveys. They also market PASCO DIM TUTOR, an interactive training software designed to teach engineers and field technicians how to accurately identify pavement surface distresses. 

The MTC Pavement Management System is a computer-assisted decision-making process designed to help cities and counties prevent pavement problems through judicious maintenance, and to diagnose and repair those that exist in a timely, cost-effective manner. This system is in use at 73 sites in Northern California cities, counties and other public agencies. The rest are users from outside the region -- in Southern California and in eight states beyond California's borders. They include universities, national forests and consulting firms that offer the MTC PMS to their clients.
